Applying to the Program

Join our geo-science and environmental science researchers in current scientific research projects through the Northern Ecosystems Research for Undergraduates program.

Who should apply?
UNH-Abisko Summer Research Internships are open to students who are completing their junior year of college. Students should have a strong academic record with relevant coursework in the Earth Sciences (environmental studies, Earth systems science, atmospheric science, oceanography, ecosystem studies, geology or advanced research in Earth and atmospheric sciences). We also look for a strong interest in contributing to advanced research in Earth, ocean, and atmospheric sciences. Participants receive a stipend, travel allowance, and room and board at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and the Abisko Scientific Research Station (ANS).

2015 Applications
Application deadline was December 31, 2014.

2015 applications were to include:
1. An undergraduate transcript (Unofficial copies are accepted).

2.

A one page statement by the applicant of his or her research and career interests. In this one page statement:
1.) describe your past research experience(s) if any,
2.) describe your experience (s) in the outdoors, if any, and/or your flexibility with remote field work,
3.) an example of your ability to work collaboratively and in leadership roles
4.) describe how the NERU program will benefit you in your research/career goals
5.) identify a specific research project you might be interested in working on
(see NERU Research Areas for Summer 2015, at left).
